The Scientific-Industrial consortium Economic Security of Poland is a platform for cooperation between science and business, created on the initiative of the employees of the Department of Negotiation and Mediation, pursuant to an agreement among the Faculty of Law, Canon Law and Administration of the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin (KUL), Grupa Azoty SA, Grupa Lotos SA, PKN ORLEN SA, PGNIG SA, KGHM Polska Miedź SA, PGE Dystrybucja SA, Enea Operator Sp. z o.o., Generali Investments SA, TUW PZUW, and Fundacja Bezpieczeństwo Gospodarcze Polski. Instytut dialogu i analiz prawno-gospodarczych (Think tank). The Consortium is located and led by KUL. Consortium is run by the employees of the Department of Negotiation and Mediation. The aim of the Consortium is to carry out joint research to meet the real needs of Polish companies, develop training programmes and as well as produce legal and economic analyses. 

 

Selected activities of the Consortium:

  1. publications: “Industry-science cooperation. Good practices”. Lublin 2017; “Intellectual property and its effective use in business operations. Current problems”. Lublin 2019.
  2. the first issue of the scientific journal “Law&Business” – in preparation.
  3. grants: Commercialisation of R&D research results: legal and economic aspects (implemented for PGNIG SA); Optimization of remuneration of inventors in state-owned companies (currently implemented); Amicable settlement of labor disputes in the period 2020-2030 in a European perspective with the use of scenario planning method and scenario builder.
  4. workshops for company employees: “Preparation for the development of an IPR management strategy”; “Closed-loop waste management”; “Low-carbon energy”; “Global playing field of the future by 2030”; Amicable settlement of labor disputes in the period 2020-2030 in a European perspective with the use of scenario planning method and scenario builder.
  5. series of debates and conferences: How to educate for the needs of the economy?; Cooperation between industry and science – the key to success; Solving consumer disputes in the European Union.

 

How to cooperate?

Research topics are reported by company and university employees. The topics qualified for implementation by the Consortium Council are implemented jointly by the employees of the companies and academic staff of KUL. Researchers from Polish and foreign universities are also invited to implement the topics.

The only department in Poland whose main research specialization is alternative dispute resolution. The research covers analysis of legal regulations classified into various branches of law: human rights, civil, criminal, labor and administrative law. The departure point for our research are fundamental human rights and we explore how public administration structures perform when implementing fundamental human rights.
